Job Details:
* Work 3-12 hour shifts per week with every other weekend requirement
* Patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on day shifts, 1:5 to 1:6 on night shifts
* Unit has 34 beds (630) and 25 beds (633) with 3 techs when full on 630 and 2 techs when full on 633
* May float between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors
* Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
* Must have critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, and experience with cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
* Peripheral IV skills required, peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
* Advanced skills needed: experience with BiPAPs, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
* Experience with stroke and post cardiac catheterization care required
* Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes required
* Equipment used includes BiPAPs, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, and wound vacs
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Procedures performed: peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, dobhoff/NG tube insertions, central line dressing changes, and wound vac troubleshooting
* Patient experience requirements: hourly rounding on days, every 2-hour rounding on nights, AIDET implementation
* Dress code: black scrubs
* Unit offers self-scheduling with 4-week schedules

This medical center features a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) that provides intermediate-level care for patients requiring more monitoring than general medical-surgical patients but less intensive care than ICU patients.
