Opportunity:
Medical Lab Scientist
Job Details:
* Work Thursday through Saturday from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with every other Wednesday from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
* Weekly guaranteed hours of 36 per week
* Core Lab/Generalist role providing laboratory services to inpatient and outpatient populations of all ages
* 2 years of experience required with prior travel experience of at least one 13-week assignment required
* Nevada license preferred; preference given to candidates who already hold licensure
* Required certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (ASCP)
* Experience with the following equipment is a plus: Roche Cobas Pro (Chemistry), Sysmex XN with Cellavision (Hematology), Stago STAR Max (Coagulation), and UN 3000 (Urinalysis)
* Candidates with experience limited only to Microbiology or Blood Bank are not an ideal fit for this position
* Provide quality and timely laboratory test results for inpatient and outpatient populations
* Report test results clearly to nursing and/or medical staff through direct communication or computer entry
* Communicate delays in patient care and assist with technical questions for clinical lab assistants, physicians, and nurses
* Must consider patient age when performing testing and releasing results
* Ability to communicate with a diverse patient population and their families when performing special procedures
* May be required to float to other areas of the organization up to competency level
* Required to work 2 or 3 major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
* Schedule may vary based on department needs and can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
Facility:
This facility is an extremely busy and fast-paced medical center serving a 500-mile radius. It operates as a Level 2 trauma center with stroke accreditation, featuring 800 inpatient beds and 80 emergency room beds, with a volume and pace comparable to that of a Level 1 trauma center. The facility is home to the region's only children's hospital, a leading robotic surgery institute, groundbreaking brain and nerve care, and comprehensive heart and cancer services. The lab operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, supporting both inpatient and outpatient needs.
