Job Details:
* Day shift schedule working 4 x 10-hour shifts with consecutive days
* Start time of 9:00 AM
* Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in the field required
* 5 years of experience preferred
* EPIC experience required
* Senior CLS or Lead CLS experience preferred
* Current BLS certification required
* Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license required in CA
* Organizes and coordinates overall operation of the clinical laboratory phlebotomy and processing area
* Manages staffing and work assignments for phlebotomists, laboratory assistants, and interns
* Directs, implements, and updates policies, procedures, and protocols to streamline workflow and improve efficiency
* Ensures timely delivery of accurate phlebotomy procedures
* Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or skin puncture according to policy and procedure
* Receives and prepares various types of body fluids for testing following established procedures
* Completes specimen accessioning activities including receiving, sorting, labeling, and processing specimens
* Enters specimen information into the Laboratory Information System
* Processes specimens including mixing and spinning in a centrifuge while maintaining integrity and quality
* Assesses condition of specimens and ensures proper storage conditions
* Stores, directs, and disposes of patient specimens according to established procedures
* Prints reports and logs, evaluates and follows up on discrepancies to ensure all specimens are accounted for
* Serves as liaison between phlebotomy, laboratory, physicians, patients, family, and other hospital staff
* Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures
