Opportunity:

RN - Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit (D2)

Job Details:

* Work on a 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced patient throughput
* Patient ratios of 1:5 for Step-Down and 1:6 for MedSurg, or 1:5 if combined, for both day and night shifts
* Every other weekend required, no on-call, assist with holidays
* Expected to float to other units within skill set
* Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down (PCU) level experience preferred
* Primary responsibilities include completing Admission Assessments, Medication Reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders for patients admitted from the ED
* Care for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses requiring a well-rounded clinical background
* Charge Nurse experience or willingness to consider is appreciated
* Minimal bedside procedures performed on unit
* Unit staffing includes free charge when possible, with 1-2 CNAs based on volume for day and night shifts
* Documentation system: Cerner
* Equipment: Baxter IV pumps
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Additional certifications preferred but not required
* Dress code: Navy blue/white or combination of the two colors; no t-shirts; appropriate navy or white jacket/sweater if needed

This facility operates a fast-paced Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit with a primary focus on receiving admitted patients from the emergency department, reducing overall length of stay, and enhancing the patient and family experience. The unit is supported by a tenured and experienced staff team, with many travel nurses choosing to extend their assignments. Additional opportunities exist within the CMU Telemetry Unit and as ED Transporters, offering variety and growth within the organization.
