Open Position: RN - Cardiac Tele Stepdown

Opportunity:

RN - 6N Cardiac/Tele - PCU (Stepdown)

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts available on both day shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
* Weekend day shifts required every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
* Work on a 36-bed Cardiac/Telemetry PCU Stepdown unit with higher acuity than most telemetry units
* MedSurg/Tele nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6); PCU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
* CNA support available with team nursing model of 1 RN and 1 CNA for 6-7 patients
* Care for cardiac patients including CR bands, post cath, AMI, post-op lung surgeries, respiratory failure, chest tubes, pacemakers, and post PCI patients
* Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrelin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50 mcg)
* Stepdown RN experience strongly preferred due to higher acuity and titration requirements
* Philips telemetry monitors in use; monitor techs available but RNs must be able to read and interpret strips independently
* CPAP and BiPap available on unit; managed by Respiratory Therapy
* Charge nurse available 24/7; day charge nurse does not take patients, night charge nurse does take patients
* Float to MedSurg/Tele units as needed; travelers are subject to floating
* Participate in holiday rotation schedule with permanent staff
* Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
* Charting system: EPIC
* Royal blue scrubs required; no false nails permitted
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA)
* Valid driver's license copy required for submission; 50-mile radius rule applies

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive cardiac and telemetry services within a structured stepdown care environment. The unit is designed to support higher acuity patients than a typical telemetry floor, with 36 private-style beds and robust interdisciplinary support including dedicated monitor technicians, respiratory therapy, and charge nurse coverage around the clock. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic charting system and emphasizes a team nursing approach to deliver high-quality patient care.
