RN - Med Tele

Job Details:

* 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
* Weekend rotation required every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
* Holiday requirements: 2 out of 3 holidays
* Potential to be placed on call or standby
* Must be able to float to like units and patients
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 on day shift, 6:1 at 11:00 PM; team nursing with LPNs at 2:7 ratios
* 24-bed inpatient unit with up to 10 observation or day surgery patients
* Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases including ortho (hips and knees), cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and TURPS-CBI
* Must be comfortable with IV starts as no IV team is on site
* Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge required; physical monitor located at nurses station
* Titration of drips is not required
* Travelers may be placed as relief charge nurse
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7; CPAP equipment on unit
* Hospitalist in house until 6:00 PM daily, then telemed is utilized
* Nurse aides present on the unit
* 1 year of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
* Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience preferred
* Experience with TURPS-CBI preferred
* Small pediatric population; travelers will not be assigned pediatric patients unless they have prior pediatric experience or no other options are available
* Dress code: solid professional scrubs, no specific color required
* Required certification: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
* BSN not required
* Acute care setting, Trauma Level 4
* Charting system: computerized system
* Cancellation policy: client may cancel up to 12 hours every 13 weeks
* All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
* Orientation: Day 1 includes 8-hour computer education and 4-hour shadowing; Day 2 is a 12-hour orientation shift; Day 3 the clinician is on their own

This acute care facility operates a Med/Tele unit with 24 inpatient beds and supports up to 10 observation and day surgery patients daily. The facility functions as a Critical Access or Trauma Level 4 hospital, offering a range of services including orthopedic surgeries, general surgeries, and telemetry monitoring. With limited on-site resources, the facility fosters a team-oriented nursing environment supported by respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and telemed services.
