Opportunity:
Labor and Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby Unit
Job Details:
* LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) unit requiring experience with all phases of labor and postpartum care
* Care for well babies using rooming-in model with no dedicated nursery
* Patient ratios: 1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor, 1:3-4 couplets, 1:2-3 med/surg patients
* Handle low-risk deliveries with high-risk patients transferred out for labor and delivery
* Care for post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers
* Handle med/surg overflow patients requiring IV antibiotics, swing bed, or rehab care
* Skills required: shoulder dystocia, epidural management, nitrous administration, intrathecal spinal analgesia
* Assist with C-sections for baby catch and neonatal care (no circulating required)
* Newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia management
* Minimum 2 years experience required; first-time travelers accepted with 3+ years LD experience
* Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
* No call responsibilities
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring, STABLE (within 30 days)
* Professional scrubs required in any color; procedural scrubs provided for OR
* EMR system: Cerner
* May float to MS or ED for task assistance only (no patient assignments)
* General hospital orientation plus 1 shift unit orientation
Facility:
This 64-bed healthcare facility features a Level III nursery and handles approximately 200 births per year. The labor and delivery unit includes 4 labor beds and 4 postpartum beds operating under an LDRP model. The facility maintains comprehensive support services including 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, phlebotomy services, and midwife care with OB physician backup. The unit is staffed with at least 2-3 nurses and includes charge nurse support with health unit coordinators available four days per week.
