NICU RN
Job Details:
* Level III NICU position with approximately 190 births per month
* Contract option for up to 26 weeks
* Day and night shifts available
* Every other weekend required, may exceed to meet unit needs
* No on-call required
* No floating between like units; may float to Mother/Baby for babies if couplet experience applies
* Patient ratios up to 1:3, staffed by acuity
* 14-bed NICU unit
* 36 orientation hours provided
* Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
* All RTO must be submitted at time of presentation; approval based on facility needs
* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
* Level III NICU experience required - hard stop
* Travel experience required
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced (willing to obtain advanced NRP before start may be considered)
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Navy Blue (RNs)

* Key skills required include: central line care, arterial line management, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nitric oxide, therapeutic hypothermia, PICC line management, UAC/UVC management, neonatal dosage calculations, and administration of IV vasopressors including Dopamine, Dobutamine, Fentanyl, and Versed
* Special procedures include: central lines, ROP exams, spinal taps, and intubations (no surgeries performed at this facility)
* Special equipment used: CPAP, BIPAP, smart pumps, feeding pumps, isolettes, warmers, high frequency ventilators/oscillators
* Common patient diagnoses include: prematurity, feeders and growers, RDS, NAS, sepsis, hypoglycemia, and jaundice
* Patients served: neonates and infants
Facility:
This acute care hospital features a 212-bed facility providing comprehensive inpatient and specialty care services. The Level III NICU operates with robust interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, interpretation services, and unit secretarial support. The facility holds a CCS designation and serves a large Hispanic community, maintaining high standards of neonatal care across a wide range of complex diagnoses and procedures.
