PCU RN - 5N
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:30 AM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
* Every other weekend requirement including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
* Typically 2-3 holidays required during winter, otherwise every other holiday
* No on-call or standby requirements
* Self-scheduling with manager balancing; schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 dependent on acuity
* Nurse aide support available: Days 1:9, Nights 1:12
* 28-bed unit with a neuro focus treating strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barr?, Myasthenia Gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, endovascular, AMS, and dementia patients
* Also treats trauma/ortho injuries including hematomas, bleeds, falls on blood thinners, and farm and MVA accidents
* Minimum 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience required with experience in setting within the last 1 year
* Must have drip experience; required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
* Tracheostomy and ventilator experience highly preferred; facility willing to train on vents but RN must be open to learning
* RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2
* Central telemonitor located in a different area
* Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
* Any solid color scrubs required
* Orientation consists of 1 general shift and 1 shift with a preceptor
* Charting system: Cerner
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a broad range of specialized medical services. The progressive care unit maintains a strong neuro focus and supports a diverse patient population with access to advanced respiratory therapy equipment and titratable drip protocols. The facility utilizes Cerner for electronic charting and provides a structured yet flexible scheduling environment to support both staff and traveling clinicians.
