Opportunity:
RN - Cardiac/PCU
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour shifts with available shift times of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend rotation required
* 2 of 3 holidays can be expected
* No on-call requirements; option to pick up extra shifts if interested
* Schedules set in 6-week periods and provided 2 weeks before the start of each cycle; block scheduling can be accommodated
* Patient ratio of 1:3-4
* Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac or PCU experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Care for cardiovascular patients including MI, post-operative open-heart surgery, cardiac arrhythmias, pacemakers, ICDs, and PCU-level patients
* Manage cardiac drips including nitro, heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, dopamine (fixed rate), and dobutamine (fixed rate)
* Identify and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage epidurals and chest tubes
* Post-cardiac catheterization care using both femoral and radial approaches with TR bands
* Float to MedSurg units or ICU to cover overflow assignments; travelers are first to float
* Work with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Philips portable and bedside monitors
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Scrub color: Any solid color, professional; no graphics, logos, or designs
* Orientation includes NEO and 2 12-hour shifts of unit orientation

This 388-bed hospital operates as a Level 3 Trauma Center and houses a 34-bed cardiac and PCU unit. The facility provides comprehensive cardiac and vascular care supported by a robust team including CNAs, a free-floating charge nurse, a flex nurse, a hospitalist available 24/7, respiratory therapy available 24/7, a cardiologist on-call 24/7, and telemetry technicians. The unit is acuity adaptable and places a strong emphasis on teamwork, respectful communication, and a collaborative work environment.
