RN - Cardiovascular Progressive Care

Job Details:

* Work on a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit focused on CV surgery and vascular surgery patients
* Care for primary patient population including open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
* Also manage overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and more
* Patient ratio of 1:5 per RN
* Day and night shifts available with 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs per shift
* Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per 6-week schedule period
* No on-call requirements
* Flexible to work holidays
* Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
* Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
* EMR system: Cerner
* Stepdown experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the last year preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
* CVICU experience preferred
* May float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical unit (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
