Opportunity:
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Job Details:
* Work five 8-hour shifts per day from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
* Every 5th weekend rotation required (both Saturday and Sunday)
* On-call requirements to be determined based on unit needs
* Float within scope to meet facility needs as required
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Acute care experience required
* Bedside swallow evaluation and treatment experience required
* Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
* Treat patients of all age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Provide care for patients with dysphagia, communication disorders, and cognitive impairments caused by traumatic brain injury, stroke, trauma, or other illnesses including COPD, CHF, pneumonia, general surgical procedures, neoplasms, and cardiac conditions
* Perform modified barium swallow studies (MBSS) and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES) if trained
* Work with speaking valves and alternative/augmentative communication devices
* Treat patients across all areas of the hospital
* Charting system: Epic (experience preferred)
* Scrub color: Per facility profile
* Parking available in North Lot; free in any unrestricted space
* Required certifications: BLS, CCC-SLP, active Minnesota state license required (pending license not accepted)
* Candidates must not live within 25 miles of the facility
* No RTO within the first week of start date; no more than 10 days of RTO per assignment; finalized RTO must be included with submission
* Guaranteed hours equal contracted hours
Facility:
This facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center with 479 staffed beds and a capacity of 500 beds. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services. The speech-language pathology team works across all areas of the hospital serving a daily census of approximately 50 patients.
