Job Details:
* Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
* Travel experience required; preference for travelers with at least 3 completed ER contracts; candidates with 1-2 completed travel assignments will be screened
* Epic charting system experience required (hard stop - redirected if no Epic experience)
* Patient population ranges from neonates and adolescents to geriatrics
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
* Preferred certifications: SANE, TNCC
* Large, high-acuity, non-trauma emergency department; Stroke and STEMI certified facility
* Patient ratio of 1:4; 74-bed ER averaging 165-175 patients per day
* Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Every other weekend shift required unless otherwise specified
* Floating within facility and scope of practice is rare but may be required
* Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission - no RTO or schedule requests accepted post-offer or on-site
* RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th - April 12th)
* Holiday expectations: if 1-2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them
* Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
* 24 orientation hours required
* Preferred experience: previous charge experience, community hospital experience, Trauma Level I and Level II experience
* Key clinical skills include: interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, BiPAP/CPAP management, intubation, procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, central line care, chest tube management, blood product administration, triage, phlebotomy, stroke and STEMI protocols, and management of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
Facility:
This large, high-acuity emergency department is a Stroke and STEMI certified facility serving a broad patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics. The unit operates with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio across a 74-bed department averaging 165-175 patients per day. Interdisciplinary support services include IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
