Open Position: RN - Med Surg Peds Inpatient Adult

Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

* Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation
* Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards
* Provide care for all patients from birth to elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients
* Conduct initial assessments and re-assessments every 24 hours
* Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient and family education
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective care
* Manage behavioral health patients utilizing therapeutic communication techniques
* Supervise unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse
* Pediatrics and adult experience strongly preferred
* Guaranteed hours of 40 per week (note: orientation begins on a Tuesday and guaranteed hours do not apply during the first week)
* Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse
* Current BLS certification required
* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training required
* Proficient use of office and medical equipment including computers, telephones, fax machines, and position-appropriate medical equipment
* Must be flexible with work schedule and capable of independent actions within prescribed limits
* New graduates accepted; experience preferred dependent on position
