Opportunity:

Psych RN Manager

Job Details:

* Work three 8.5-hour shifts with a 1-hour lunch break
* Shifts run from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
* Every other weekend requirement
* May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
* No on-call or standby requirements
* May be asked to float to inpatient units
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* 3-week unit-specific orientation provided: 1 week of classroom training, 1 week for inpatient units, and 1 week for assigned unit
* Must have a minimum of 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience
* Medical experience preferred (MS, MS-Tele, PCU, ICU, etc.)
* De-escalation experience and leather restraint use experience preferred
* First-time travelers accepted
* Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6-12 depending on acuity
* Administer IM injections and PO medications including psychotropics such as Haldol, Zyprexa, and Ativan (no IV administration)
* Work with patients experiencing severe mental illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety, depression, and trauma
* Identify major cardiac rhythms, life-threatening rhythms, and rhythm changes when needed
* Charge nurse does not take patient assignments and coordinates unit and assists staff as needed
* MSN preferred; BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), De-escalation Training, CPI preferred (willing to train if needed)
* Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing certification preferred
* Charting system: Altera (previously known as Allscripts)
* Acute care setting

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 45-bed psychiatric unit divided into specialized sections, providing comprehensive behavioral health services. The unit is supported by in-house security available 24/7, respiratory therapy, and PCTs who assist with phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, and other essential duties. The facility treats 15-45 patients per day and is staffed with a multidisciplinary team including psych physicians, residents, and medical physicians on each shift, ensuring a well-supported care environment.
