RN - Cardiovascular Progressive Care

Job Details:

* Work on a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit specializing in CV surgery and vascular surgery patients
* Care for patients who have undergone open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
* Also care for overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses of heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and more
* Patient ratios of 1:5 RN to patient and 1:13 PCT to patient
* Day and night shifts available with staffing including 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs per shift
* Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) required per 6-week schedule period
* No on-call responsibilities
* Must be flexible to work holidays
* Floating may be required to stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratios)
* Stepdown experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass within the last year)
* CVICU experience preferred
* Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucomander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
* Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
* EMR system: Cerner
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs

This facility is a large acute care hospital offering a comprehensive cardiovascular progressive care unit with 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds and a team of approximately 100 staff members. The unit provides specialized care for complex cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients in a fast-paced environment, supported by modern equipment and technology.
