RN - Cardiovascular Progressive Care
Job Details:
* Work on a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit specializing in cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients
* Primary patient population includes CV surgery and vascular surgery patients recovering from open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
* Also receive overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses including heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and more
* Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
* Day and night shift available with 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and HUC support
* Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) required per 6-week schedule period
* Flexible to work holidays
* No on-call requirements
* Typical procedures include epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
* Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
* EMR system: Cerner
* Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
* May float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical unit (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
* Stepdown experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass) within the past year preferred
* CVICU experience preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* Best candidate is a team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is flexible
