Job Details:

* Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
* Every other weekend required
* Rotate holidays with staff
* Work on 29-bed oncology floor (7th floor); travelers work on floor only, not outpatient
* Patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
* Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
* Charge nurse available out of staffing grid except in unusual circumstances
* Telemetry present with central monitoring; ability to read strips not required
* Floating rarely required, only to medical acute unit
* 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
* Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
* Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes while still running
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
* Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
* Must reside within 75 miles of the facility (driver's license address required at time of submission)
* Minimum 2 years of experience in oncology specialty required; no first-time travelers
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred; ONS preferred if administering chemotherapy
