Opportunity:

Phlebotomist

Job Details:

* Night shift position with 10-hour shifts starting at 8:30 PM (2030)
* Flexible scheduling available with option to work 5 eight-hour shifts from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM (2200-0630)
* Perform venipunctures and finger sticks to obtain blood specimens
* Verify specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type and volume for indicated testing
* Process samples using aseptic technique and prepare required paperwork for testing and reference lab testing
* Confer with patients to obtain information for laboratory records and explain procedures
* Communicate effectively with physicians, their offices, and other departments to facilitate lab work flow and quality
* Monitor and maintain equipment per regulations, interfacing with clinical engineering and technical consultants as needed
* Follow established guidelines for missed collections, recollects, and difficult phlebotomies
* Assist in ordering supplies, checking expiration dates, usage, and delivery times for stock and non-stock items
* Coordinate with Lead Phlebotomist to run daily quality controls and other required testing
* Perform proficiency testing per regulatory agency procedures and document according to established guidelines
* Participate in departmental performance improvement and quality assurance activities
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the field required
* High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
* Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT I or CPT II) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license preferred in HI
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
