Opportunity:
RN - ER
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM
* Every other weekend required
* Holiday requirements worked in with permanent staff rotation
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Travelers are first to float, assisting as a helping hand if floating is required
* Matrix scheduling with efforts to accommodate traveler needs
* Midshifts available starting at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 depending on acuity
* Average of 70 patients treated per day
* 18 beds including 4 critical rooms used for trauma or codes, 6 Fast Track beds, and 1 psych/seclusion room
* Travelers are allowed to staff triage
* ER holds are intermixed and ER nurses are responsible for caring for holds
* Administer and manage common ER drips including pressors and sedation
* RNs responsible for performing and interpreting EKGs and reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips
* RNs responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment including nasal cannula through ventilators
* Treat a variety of patient populations including pediatrics, cardiac, STEMIs, strokes, trauma, abdominal pain, respiratory, and GI cases
* Must be comfortable working in a Level III STEMI and Stroke Receiving facility
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia test at 83% or higher before signing contract (three attempts allowed)
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
* BSN not required
* Scrub color: Navy; undershirts must be navy; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy if worn
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Unit orientation consists of 1-3 shifts dependent on experience with a checkoff packet completed with a preceptor
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
Facility:
This acute care facility operates as the only hospital in the area that admits pediatric patients, making it an essential resource for the community. The emergency department is a Level III STEMI and Stroke Receiving center equipped with 18 beds including critical care rooms, a Fast Track area, and dedicated psych/seclusion space. The facility provides 24/7 physician and security coverage and offers robust support services including respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, and on-site radiology and CT imaging.
