RN - Cardiac/Stepdown

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 AM to 6:45 PM
* Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month required
* Holiday rotation required covering 6 major holidays: New Year's, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, and Labor Day
* No on-call or standby requirements
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on days and 1:4-5 on nights
* Nurse aide support available at 1:8 on days and 1:12 on nights
* Monitor techs on unit handle all monitoring, measuring, and documenting
* Care for pre/post cardiac procedure patients including heart cath (femoral and radial), cardioversions, cardiothoracic, post-thoracotomy, CABGs, stents, post PCIs, vascular procedures, and NSTEMIs
* Experience with pre/post heart patients including stents, pacemakers, ICDs, CABGs, and vascular procedures required
* Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, nitroglycerin, dobutamine, and integrilin
* Work with equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and home vents (home vent experience not required)
* Manage patients with trachs on home vents, trachs with BiPAP and CPAP, and chest tubes
* Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available
* Float within permanent staff rotation as needed
* Unit orientation consists of 2-3 shifts
* Charting system: EPIC
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* NIHSS certification preferred
* Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from the facility location
* Maximum of 2 cancellations per 13-week assignment

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center operating a high-acuity cardiac and cardiothoracic unit with 24 beds. The unit specializes in complex cardiac and surgical patients, offering a dynamic and fast-paced environment supported by monitor technicians, nurse aides, charge nurses, and a rapid response nurse. The facility utilizes EPIC as its primary charting system and supports both self-scheduling and block scheduling to provide flexibility for its nursing staff.
