RN - 4th Floor North & South
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
* Med Tele/Ortho unit with 55 beds and nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
* Weekend requirements: typically every other weekend with additional coverage as needed based on department demand
* Holiday requirements: 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year's
* Floating required to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA) required, ACLS preferred
* Must pass/fail exam on Friday during orientation with 90% passing score required
* 2 days of unit-specific orientation provided
* Dress code: Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
* Artificial fingernails prohibited - refusal to remove will lead to contract termination
* Common patient diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
* Required to titrate drips including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; manage PCA pumps
* Must have some telemetry awareness as tele techs interpret strips
* Focus on hourly rounding, responsiveness, and managing multiple discharges and admissions daily
* Serve diverse patient population including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese speaking patients
* Charting system: EPIC
* BSN not required
* Must live outside 50-mile radius and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities
