Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

* Night shift position with shifts clustered together when possible (not guaranteed)
* Every other weekend rotation required
* 1-2 holidays per season (summer and winter) expected
* Up to 5 days of time-off may be approved (holidays excluded)
* Overtime occasionally available, offered to staff first
* Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
* Travel experience strongly preferred
* Patient ratios of 1:2-3 based on acuity
* Care for Medical ICU patients including DKA, DTs, multisystem failure, ARDS, CIWA/ETOH, sepsis, pneumonia, and mixed assignments
* Care for Surgical ICU patients including open abdomen and thoracotomies
* Neuro cases may include CVA, intracranial hemorrhage, craniotomy/craniectomy, EVDs, and ICP monitoring
* CVICU cases include CABG/TAVR (24-48 hour post-op), fem-pop bypass, and AAA repair
* Travelers are not expected to manage CRRT, Impella, balloon pumps, or ECMO
* Required skills: cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, proning, hypothermia protocol, chest tubes, drains, and invasive line monitoring (A-lines, CVP)
* Charting system: EPIC
* Equipment used: BD Alaris IV Pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start
* Floating may occur to Respiratory Unit, Surgical Floor, Telemetry Floor, PCU, or ED (task-based support)
* Orientation includes general orientation and 2 x 12-hour shifts of on-unit orientation
* Scrub color: any color, must be professional
* Free parking available in designated areas

Facility:

This is a 388-bed hospital and Level 3 Trauma Center with an 18-bed mixed ICU, including single and double occupancy rooms. The unit is well-supported with a mobility tech, HUC, 24/7 patient-free rapid response nurse, free-floating charge nurse, resource nurse, phlebotomy, hospitalist, respiratory therapist, and an intensivist present throughout the day. The facility has a strong team culture that is experienced with integrating travel nurses and will support new travelers by starting them on lower acuity patients and gradually increasing acuity based on assessed skill level.
