Opportunity:

RN - Emergency Department

Job Details:

* Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department with 8 additional hall chairs
* Patient ratio of 1:4, with low acuity ESI 4 & 5 patients, may take up to 6 patients
* Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses (one mid-shift), 1 unit secretary, and 1-2 techs
* Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, 4-5 nurses (one mid-shift), unit secretary until midnight, and 1 tech
* Perform assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IV placement, urine collection, lab draws, and care for ESI 5 through 1
* Work with equipment including cardiac monitors, Baxter IV pumps, HPs, Tonopen, and more
* Use Meditech EMR system with vital signs flowing directly into the chart
* Mandatory shift huddle attendance at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM unless providing critical care at time of huddle
* EMTALA training is mandatory
* Level II or Level III trauma experience required
* Required certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, BLS
* Preferred certifications: CEN, TCRN, CPI
* Greater than two years of emergency department experience preferred
* Scrub color: Royal Blue preferred
* Team spirit attire encouraged on Sundays (team jersey such as Astros, Cowboys)

This emergency department is located on the first floor of the Bay Area Emergency Department building and is currently transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital. The facility operates with a strong focus on timely care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients. The unit is actively climbing the ranks in patient satisfaction and employee engagement, offering a dynamic and growing environment for healthcare professionals who value compassion, urgency, and teamwork.
