Open Position: RN - Med Surg

Opportunity:

OB RN & M/S Float

Job Details:

* 12-hour day shifts from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM
* 36 guaranteed hours per week
* 13-week contract
* Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation required
* Float between Med/Surg and OB units; will float to Med/Surg if OB is closed
* On-call only if agreeable due to low census; call back only occurs in emergency situations
* Must be able to work independently in Labor & Delivery, Post-partum, and Med/Surg
* Must be able to serve as back-up charge nurse; previous charge experience required
* 25-bed Critical Access Hospital with Med/Surg (20 beds) and OB (4 LDRP, 1 post-partum/C-section prep)
* Average daily census: Med/Surg 8-10 patients (majority skilled care level); OB averages 85-90 deliveries per year
* Nurse to patient ratios: OB (low risk) 1:1 active labor, 1:2 early labor, post-partum couplets up to 1:3; Med/Surg typical 1:3-4, up to 1:5
* CNAs available on both shifts
* Blocked scheduling will be accommodated when possible but cannot be guaranteed
* OB scrubs provided by facility; staff choice for Med/Surg
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in specialty area required; previous Critical Access Hospital experience beneficial
* EPIC experience beneficial; Electronic Medical Record charting required
* Required certifications: Iowa RN license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NRP, and minimum Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring
* Associate Degree or Certificate required
