RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour day shifts with weekends scheduled as needed
* 21-bed medical surgical department with an average census of 15-16 patients
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional 1:6 ratio
* Patient Care Techs available with a 1:5 ratio, though may have up to 7-8 patients at times
* Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, post-op orthopedic, and laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients
* Must be proficient in dysrhythmia reading and telemetry strip interpretation
* Telemetry is frequent and nurses read their own telemetry strips
* Heparin drips are common; titration of drips is not required
* CPAP equipment used on the unit
* Charting system is EPIC; training provided if needed
* Block scheduling available but not guaranteed
* No holiday requirements, no call or standby requirement, and no floating requirements
* Any color scrubs permitted
* Up to 2 shift cancellations per 13-week contract
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
* Must reside outside a 50-mile radius; copy of unexpired driver's license required at time of submission
* Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
