Opportunity:
Pathology Assistant - Pathology
Job Details:
* 13-week contract assignment with 1 available position
* ASCP Certified or ASCP exam ready with certification required prior to start date
* Must have completed a NAACLS Accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program
* Prior grossing experience preferred
* Assist in preparation and performance of surgical specimen and frozen section dissections under direct or indirect supervision of a Pathologist
* Complete accurate gross description dictation for surgical specimens ranging from simple to complex
* Perform frozen sections and maintain cryostats
* Maintain accuracy of patient identification on all specimens processed for microscopic examination
* Obtain pathologist input for accurate gross specimen analysis when appropriate
* Demonstrate effective communication skills in person and virtually to provide timely result reporting
* Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, adequate provision of supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology gross cutting area and morgue
* Dispose of tissues and reagents according to standard operating procedures
* Perform, interpret, and report tests for which validated according to standard operating procedure
* Recognize reasons for discrepant test results and take appropriate corrective action to facilitate quality results
* Perform and document quality control and routine preventive maintenance processes
* Keep gross bench procedure manual current along with review of CAP compliance
* Actively participate in problem solving, quality assurance, and quality control monitoring
* Required certification: Pathologists' Assistant - Certified through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) prior to start date
