Opportunity:
RN - NICU
Job Details:
* Work 3 12-hour shifts per week
* 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
* Be ready for huddle at 6:45
* Block scheduling available
* Patient ratio of 1:2-3 in a 6-bed unit (5 open bays, 1 isolation room)
* Floating policy includes Birth Response/Stork Nurse responsibilities
* Provide breastfeeding support and demonstrate strong communication skills
* Must be proficient in IV insertion in preterm or term infants
* Must be able to work independently with strong assessment skills and knowledge of symptoms of declining health in preterm infants
* Advanced skills required: ability to care for and stabilize critically ill infants needing vent support, CPAP, UVC placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, administering TPN and lipids
* Procedures performed on unit include: newborn resuscitation, intubation, umbilical line placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, chest tube insertion, and NG/OG feedings
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and active RN licensure
* Hospital-provided scrubs required (change on arrival and departure)
* Documentation systems used: Meditech and Centricity Perinatal
* Equipment used includes: GE 650 monitors, Medela breast pumps, syringe pumps, IV pumps, and bili-lights
* Patient experience standards: AIDET, courtesy and respect
Facility:
This medical center is home to a newly opened NICU (opened November 2023) featuring brand-new equipment and a collaborative environment with neonatologists. The facility operates out of the Main Building on the second floor and utilizes modern technology and documentation systems to support high-quality patient care. The unit is staffed with RNs and respiratory therapists, fostering a team-oriented approach to neonatal care.
