Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts with a weekend rotation every other Saturday and Sunday
* Day shift orientation during first week (Monday through Friday), followed by scheduled 12-hour shifts in second week
* Modified self-scheduling - sign up for preferred shifts with manager review and adjustment as needed
* No on-call responsibilities; overtime is available
* Holiday rotation expected
* Must be willing to float between pediatric and adult units as needed
* Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience required; pediatric behavioral health experience preferred
* First-time travelers accepted
* Care for voluntary and involuntary admissions across pediatric (ages 5-18) and adult (18+ including geriatric) patient populations
* Pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria
* Adult diagnoses include schizophrenia, MDD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, anxiety, and occasional substance use disorder or detoxing patients on CIWA
* All patients are medically cleared prior to admission; not typical to have lines, drains, or tubes
* Patient ratios: Day 1:5-6; Night 1:13 with resource and nursing support
* Skills required include de-escalation experience, physical restraint experience (chemical restraints are not used), medication passes, comfort running groups, and documentation
* May have the opportunity to act as Charge Nurse, but not required
* Charting system: Cerner; medication system: Pyxis
* Required certifications: BLS, Maine State License; MOAB obtained on site during orientation
* Scrub color: any solid color; must be professional

* Heavy snow conditions expected during winter months

Facility:

This is a freestanding acute inpatient behavioral health facility with 94 beds, including 50 pediatric beds and 44 adult beds, with a contracted emergency department located five minutes away. The facility provides both traditional medical and psychiatric care alongside specialized therapies including pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens. A robust support team is available including a Nurse Practitioner on site until 4:00 PM and on call overnight, a Psychiatrist available for daily rounds and on call from midnight to 6:00 AM, Occupational Therapists seven days per week, Psych Techs, and a contracted phlebotomist for lab draws. The facility maintains a locked environment with seclusion rooms available when necessary, and features scenario-based de-escalation training every other week with a dedicated MOAB Educator and Trainer on site.
