Opportunity:

RN - Psychiatric

Job Details:

* Work three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends
* Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in contract
* No on-call requirements
* Float policy based on greatest unit need
* Nurses wear blue scrubs; MHTs wear green or black
* Document using Meditech system
* Assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
* Take thorough patient histories, observe behavior, and use diagnostic tools
* Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs, including setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes
* Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions; knowledge of psychotropic medications required
* Provide crisis intervention and immediate short-term support to patients experiencing suicidal ideation or aggression using de-escalation techniques
* Utilize therapeutic communication skills including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients
* Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
* Work across multiple units including adolescent (ages 12-18), lower acuity adult, higher acuity adult (thought disorder diagnoses), senior lifestyle, and lower acuity adult units
* Patient ratios: nurses 8:1, MHTs 12:1
* Required certifications: BLS and CPI (Active Blue Card CPI required at time of submission)
