Job Details:
* Work in a 123-bed community hospital emergency department with 21 beds, 8 hallway beds, 5 fast track beds, and 4-12 outpatient overflow beds
* Patient ratio of 1:4, with pods set up for 8 patients between 3 nurses
* Treat a variety of patient types including geriatric population, abdominal pain, chest pain, stroke, psychiatric, respiratory, and 15% pediatric cases
* Shift times vary: Days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM), Mids (10:00 AM - 10:00 PM, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM, 1:00 PM - 1:00 AM, 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM, 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM), Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
* Every other weekend rotation required
* No on-call responsibilities
* 1 holiday expectation per contract
* RTO approval of up to 7 days available
* Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required; 5 years preferred
* First-time travelers accepted
* Required skills: TNK, conscious sedation, chest tubes, and central lines
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI or MOAB, NIHSS
* EMR: EPIC experience required
* Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
* Scrub color: Any color, professional
* No floating required
* Orientation includes 1 week of NEO, EPIC training, skills check off, general site check off, position specific check off, and 2-3 precepted shifts
* MHS Tele Test required prior to arrival
* Parking is free
Facility:
This is a 123-bed community hospital and Level 3 Trauma Center. The emergency department is well-supported with 24/7 charge nurses, hospitalists, respiratory therapy, receptionist/HUC coverage, and telemetry monitoring both at bedside and at the nurse's station. Phlebotomy-certified ER techs are available on all shifts, and a VAT team is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The facility utilizes EPIC as its electronic medical records system and has a strong team culture focused on collaboration and quality patient care.
