Opportunity:
RN - ICU
Job Details:
* Night shift position with shifts clustered together when possible (not guaranteed)
* Every other weekend rotation required
* 1-2 holidays per season (summer and winter) expected
* Overtime occasionally available, offered to staff first
* Time off requests of up to 5 days may be approved, excluding holidays
* Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
* Travel experience strongly preferred
* Patient ratio of 1:2-3 based on acuity
* Care for Medical ICU patients including DKA, DTs, multisystem failure, ARDS, CIWA/ETOH, sepsis, pneumonia, and mixed assignments
* Care for Surgical ICU patients including open abdomen and thoracotomies
* Occasional Neuro ICU patients including CVA, intracranial hemorrhage, craniotomy/craniectomy, EVDs, and ICP monitoring
* CVICU patients including CABG/TAVR (24-48 hour post-op), fem-pop bypass, and AAA repair
* Travelers are not expected to care for CRRT, Impella, balloon pumps, or ECMO
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Required skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, proning, hypothermia protocol, chest tubes, drains, and invasive line monitoring (A-lines, CVP)
* Charting system: EPIC
* Equipment used: BD Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing
* Floating may occur to Respiratory Unit, Surgical Floor, Telemetry Floor, PCU, and ED (task-based assistance)
* Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start
* Orientation includes general orientation and 2 x 12-hour shifts of on-unit orientation
* Scrubs must be professional in any color
* Free parking available in designated areas
Facility:
This is an 388-bed hospital and Level 3 Trauma Center featuring an 18-bed mixed ICU, including single and double occupancy rooms. The facility offers strong unit support including a Mobility Tech, HUC, 24/7 Rapid Response Nurse, Free Floating Charge Nurse, Resource Nurse, Phlebotomy, Hospitalist, Respiratory Therapy, and an Intensivist present throughout the day. The facility is experienced in working with travel nurses and fosters a collaborative team culture that integrates travelers into the ICU seamlessly.
