RN - Oncology

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Rotate holidays with staff
* Work on a 29-bed oncology floor (7th floor); travelers will only work on the floor, not in outpatient
* Patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
* Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
* Charge nurse provided out of the staffing grid unless unusual circumstances
* Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor; reading strips not required
* Floating rarely, and only to medical acute unit when applicable
* Floor-specific orientation of 3 days provided
* Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
* Outpatient area patients may come to floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes
* Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
* Must reside within 75 miles of the facility; must provide this information at time of submission
* Minimum 1 year of experience required with at least 1 prior travel assignment; no first-time travelers
* Chemo administration requires ONS certification and 2 years of experience in specialty
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (preferred)
