RN - Oncology

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Rotate holidays with staff
* Position is on the 7th floor Oncology unit with 29 beds
* Patient ratios are 1:5, occasionally 1:6
* Charge nurse is out of the staffing grid unless unusual circumstances arise
* Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
* Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor; reading strips not required
* Floating to medical acute occurs rarely
* 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
* Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end of life care
* Outpatient area patients may come to the floor to finish treatment if outpatient area closes
* Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
* 1 year of experience required with at least 1 prior travel assignment
* No first-time travelers accepted
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred
* ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty
