RN - Labor & Delivery
Job Details:
* Day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Weekend rotation required - out of 8 weekend shifts per schedule, at least 4 must be worked (could be back-to-back)
* Holiday rotation required
* No call required; option to pick up call may be available
* Manager approval required for time off requests
* Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
* Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment at a facility comparable in size and acuity
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), MOAB
* Must be proficient in titrating Pitocin, fetal scalp electrodes, cervical exams, assisting CRNA with epidural placement, and managing insulin and magnesium drips
* Must be able to manage shoulder dystocia, circulate c-sections and/or receive baby in OR, and perform neonatal resuscitation
* Must be able to assist with placement and monitoring of IUPC
* Newborn care skills required including lactation support and safe skin-to-skin protocol
* Charge nurse experience should be noted in submission
* Patient ratios: Cervical Ripening 1:1-3, Laboring 1:1-3, Active Labor 1:1, Couplet/Postpartum/Antepartum 3 Mother-Baby couplets or 3 Antepartum/NICU moms
* May float to Mother-Baby unit for Antepartum, Postpartum, or occasional Mother-Baby duties
* EMR: Cerner with Fetal Link; IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis
* Scrub color: Navy - provided on site with 6 scrub machine credits allotted; street clothes worn in and out
* Free parking available on site
* Orientation includes 1 day with HR/preceptor, 1 day of OR training/PACU, and 1 day with preceptor on contracted shift
Facility:
This facility is a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit averaging 1,800 deliveries per year and performing approximately 4 scheduled events daily including c-sections and versions. The unit features a Level III NICU, Newborn Nursery, 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites, and a 25-bed Postpartum/Antepartum/GYN/Mother-Baby unit. As one of only two NICUs in Maine, the facility covers a large geographical area and receives a high volume of referrals. The unit operates with robust 24/7 support including charge nurses, anesthesia, OB providers, respiratory therapy, a certified midwife, and a house supervisor, making it a well-resourced environment for complex obstetric care.
