RN - Labor & Delivery (Break Nurse)
Job Details:
* This position is specifically for a Break Nurse role
* Shift times: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (days) and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (nights)
* Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to the start of the schedule
* Block schedule cannot be guaranteed - will be utilized to fill in gaps in the schedule
* Every other weekend rotation required, though may be variable based on need
* No mandatory on-call requirements
* May pick up available open shifts as needs arise
* Holiday rotation required on a fair and equitable basis
* Minimum 2 years of experience required with previous travel experience; 5+ years preferred
* First-time travelers considered upon review
* High acuity experience required including labor management and delivery of high-risk OB patients
* Must be able to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, perform cervical checks, and read/interpret fetal monitoring strips
* Must be able to serve as a second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed
* EPIC EMR experience required
* Will work with equipment including Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Covidien SCDs
* Floating may occur within antepartum and postpartum units and additional assignments within scope and experience
* Traditional orientation: 1 day NEO and 2 days on the unit conducted during day shifts even if position is for nights
* Scrubs are provided by the facility and must not be worn outside of the facility
* Free badge access parking available in designated areas
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate FHM (AWHONN)
Facility:
This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level IV NICU featuring 34 Labor and Delivery beds including 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED rooms, and 3 ORs, along with 18 postpartum beds. The unit manages up to 300 deliveries per month and handles high-acuity cases including hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections, preterm labor, vaginal deliveries, inductions, and postpartum hemorrhage. The facility follows AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios and provides robust support staff including CNAs, scrub techs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy services, respiratory therapy available 24/7, and a laborist on-site 24/7.
