Job Details:
* Assess and respond to individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients through observation and interaction
* Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement nursing care and treat identified problems
* Communicate patient assessments to appropriate individuals ensuring coordination of patient care
* Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures including labs, radiology, and EKG procedures
* Perform IV therapy and transcribe physician orders accurately and in a timely manner
* Document in patient clinical records via computer with accuracy and timeliness
* Complete final review of patient records to ensure all paperwork and activities are complete
* Provide appropriate instruction and education to patients and their families
* Manage supplies according to policy and utilize resources cost-effectively without compromising patient care
* Assist with housekeeping duties including cleaning and making beds as needed
* When assigned to PACU, assess and provide appropriate nursing care using critical thinking skills
* Maintain patient airways, monitor vital signs, and administer pain medication as needed
* Evaluate patient status using discharge criteria for safe transition to Phase 2
* Function as float nurse maintaining communication between all areas and assisting staff as needed
* Work in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned
* Assist with nerve blocks and maintain knowledge of anesthesia supplies
* Know location of crash cart, MH cart, and emergency medications
* Participate in committee meetings and offer suggestions for improvements
