Opportunity:

Pathology Assistant

Job Details:

* Day shift position with start time varying between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM
* No weekend or holiday requirements
* No on-call or standby call requirements
* May work at one of three gross room locations: Main Ruby, Children's, or Innovation Corp
* Perform grossing of simple and complex tissue specimens in the Anatomic Pathology Gross Room
* Handle and cut frozen sections approximately 5-10 per day
* Average daily census of 160 cases per day and approximately 700 blocks per day
* Case mix is approximately 60% smalls, 20% biopsies/moderate, and 20% complex
* Work with Epic Beaker AP LIS system and voice recognition software
* Utilize equipment including cryostat, bone saw, and scalpels/knives
* Chart using EPIC system
* Hospital scrubs are provided
* Training will be provided by current Pathologists' Assistants
* Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty required
* ASCP Certification as Pathologists' Assistant required
* Completion of a Pathologists' Assistant program preferred
* Experience in an academic medical center preferred
* Experience with Epic Beaker AP and voice recognition program preferred
* Bachelor's Degree required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), Certified Pathologist's Assistant (PA) via ASCP Verification

This is a Level 1 Trauma acute care facility operating a high-volume clinical laboratory with an Anatomic Pathology Gross Room. The facility handles a diverse and complex caseload across multiple gross room locations and is supported by a team of experienced Pathologists' Assistants and residents. The organization utilizes advanced technology including Epic Beaker AP and voice recognition programs to support efficient and accurate pathology services.
