Open Position: RN - Med Surg Tele

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required (48-hour option also available)
* No on-call or standby requirements
* Unit has 29 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days and 1:6 on nights
* Nurse aides available on unit with ratios of 1:8 on days and 1:14 on nights
* Common patient diagnoses include abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical cases
* Required skills include IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and electronic health record proficiency
* Intermediate care background required
* RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, and infrequently insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
* Telemetry monitor techs on unit; RNs are not required to read their own strips
* Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy (no vents)
* Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment; agency staff not required to work in charge role
* May float on rotation to other med/surg units if unit is overstaffed
* Block scheduling is not guaranteed but every effort is made, especially for night shifts
* Scrubs of any color accepted
* Unit-specific orientation includes 12 hours of computer training and 12 hours of shadowing
* Charting system: Cerner
* BSN not required
* Trauma Level 2, Acute Care Setting
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS preferred

Facility:

This acute care facility operates at Trauma Level 2 and provides a wide range of medical and surgical services. The progressive care unit supports patients with complex medical needs including post-surgical recovery and general medical conditions. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system and maintains dedicated telemetry monitoring support to ensure high-quality patient care around the clock.
