MED SURG RN
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts with guaranteed 36 hours per week
* Every other weekend coverage required
* No call required
* Float required
* Patient ratio of 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
* Mixed pediatric and adult unit serving infant through adult population
* Required to cover pediatric patients as needed - pediatric experience not required but willingness to work with pediatric patients is expected
* Telemetry experience preferred but not required
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* BLS and NIHSS certifications required
* ACLS and CPI preferred
* OK or compact license required
* Meditech charting system experience preferred
* Scrub color: blue for nursing
* Feeding tube care and management experience preferred
* IV therapy and phlebotomy experience preferred
* Skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, CVA care, heparin management, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, interpretation of arterial blood gases, isolation precautions/PPE, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, telemetry remote monitoring, and total joint replacement care
* Patient diagnoses include CHF, chest pain, pneumonia, flu, TB, elective and non-elective ortho, post cardiac cath, failure to thrive, RSV, stroke, cellulitis, UTI, respiratory failure, pancreatitis, and others
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
Facility:
This facility is a short-term acute care, voluntary non-profit hospital designated as a Level III Trauma Center with 110 total staffed beds. The facility operates a mixed pediatric and adult medical-surgical unit and offers a variety of specialty services including cancer-oncology, wound care, and cardiac care. Formed from a merger of three area hospitals, this organization has grown into a non-profit system consisting of two hospitals and over 20 provider clinics serving the surrounding community for more than 45 years.
