Opportunity:

Occupational Therapist

Job Details:

* Partner with residents and care providers to deliver occupational therapy services aimed at maximizing functional abilities and independence in activities of daily living
* Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures under physician or accepted healthcare provider orders while observing precautions, indications, and contraindications
* Evaluate residents per department protocols and establish therapeutic plans of care including functional long- and short-term goals with specified frequency and duration of treatment
* Provide ADL training including assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, oral care, and hair care
* Assist with ambulation, mobility, and positioning including transfers to and from bed, chair, and toileting with use of mechanical lifts and proper body mechanics as appropriate
* Document all evaluative and therapeutic interactions in the EMR per department procedures in accessible and easily understood language
* Recommend and obtain appropriate assistive devices and provide instruction on their use to residents
* Provide consultation to referring physicians and other healthcare team members regarding therapeutic and discharge needs; attend all pertinent team meetings
* Monitor and evaluate treatment effects, progress treatment programs toward functional goals, and modify plans of care as necessary
* Provide appropriate education to residents or caregivers and document response to teaching
* Supervise assistant-level staff activities in accordance with state mandates and professional organization standards
* Provide mentorship to new staff during orientation ensuring completion of department orientation checklist and basic competencies
* Understand and comply with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations
* Maintain required licenses, certifications, and competencies and complete annual compliance courses on time
* Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctorate preferred
* Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist license in the State of PA
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
* Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred
* Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills required
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
