Opportunity:

PACU RN

Job Details:

* Start times range from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with end times between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM
* Heavy call requirements: minimum 2 nights per week from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
* Minimum 1 weekend every 2-3 weeks Friday through Monday
* Possibility of multiple weekends in a row; partial or full weekends may be required to fill scheduling gaps
* Call response time: 30 minutes
* Scheduling based on unit needs with no self-scheduling
* Covers both Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1/2 in Phase 1 and 1:3/4 in Phase 2
* Common cases include Orthopedics, Spine, ENT, General, Vascular, OB/Gyn, Plastics, and Urology
* ICU patients are recovered in the PACU
* RNs are required to read strips
* RT equipment includes BiPAP (minimal) and oral airways
* Nurse aides are shared across Pre, Post, and PACU areas; coverage is minimal, sometimes only 1 aide
* Charge nurses take patient assignments
* May float to an attached outpatient surgery center for similar care including endoscopy, orthopedic, and pain clinic patients
* Charting system: Cerner
* Unit and department-specific orientation: 1-2 days
* All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
* Scrubs are provided; dedicated shoes required
* Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience required
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
