Opportunity:
RN - PCU
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts available on days (6:30 AM - 6:30 PM) and nights (6:30 PM - 6:30 AM)
* Every other weekend requirement
* Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract time frame
* 40-bed Progressive Care Unit with an average daily census of 24 patients
* Patient ratios of 1:4-5 on both days and nights
* Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at a 1:12 ratio
* Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
* Common diagnoses include cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, and renal failure
* RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
* RNs required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
* Must be competent with arterial lines
* High flow respiratory equipment present on unit
* Floating may be required to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patients
* Charting system: EPIC
* 1 day of unit/department specific orientation provided
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* BSN not required
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
* Driver's license required at submittal
* Candidate must reside outside of a 50-mile radius
* RNs must pass an open book exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
* If placed on call and called back in, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes
* Blocked scheduling will not be approved unless weekends only
* RTO must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Overhead lifts available in half the rooms, with portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners also available
* Unit serves diverse cultural populations, primarily Hispanic and Somali communities
* Successful candidates are team players who are flexible, adaptable, and have strong communication skills
