Job Details:
* 3x12-hour night shifts
* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
* Travel experience preferred
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* Patient ratio of 1:6
* Half of contract shifts will include weekend coverage
* Care for adult and geriatric patients ranging from young adults through geriatric population
* Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and specialized neurological care
* Manage patients with acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, and neurosurgical diagnoses
* Utilize continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
* Required skills include: blood product administration, CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, heparin and insulin administration, IV insulin protocols, peripheral line care, PICC line management, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, telemetry monitoring, traumatic brain injury care, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Interdisciplinary team support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
Facility:
This facility operates a 19-bed private room medical-surgical unit specializing in neurological and stroke-related conditions. The unit is equipped with continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring to support early recognition of changes in patient condition. The interdisciplinary team is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on neurological assessment, stroke recovery, secondary stroke prevention, and optimizing functional outcomes. Comprehensive support services are available on-site including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
