Opportunity:
RN - MS/Ortho
Job Details:
* Night shift position with 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule period
* Holiday rotation schedule required
* Standby requirement monitored by central staffing
* First to float to other med/surg/tele units - tele experience required
* 32-bed MS/Ortho unit with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with 2-3 PCTs on day shift
* Common diagnoses include post-op patients (colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast reconstruction) and chemo/oncology patients
* Strong post-op assessment and time management skills required due to high patient turnover
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips - all med/surg units have cardiac monitoring
* PCAs are common drips; RNs are not required to titrate drips
* RT equipment includes CPAP and high flow for palliative care patients only
* Charge nurse does not take an assignment but may assist with chemo administration on and off the unit
* Nurse aides available on day shift only, typically managing 12-14 patients each
* Self-scheduling available
* 2-shift orientation with a preceptor
* Charting system: Cerner
* Navy blue scrubs required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* ONS Chemo Provider Card preferred
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (within the past 6 months)
* Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum 2 attempts)
* Pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (study guides provided)
* Unit is equipped to admit patients to hall/overflow space and may require room preparation for double-bunking
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
