Open Position: Lab Specialist - Lab Tech

Histology Tech

Job Details:

* Day shift position working Monday through Friday, 5x8-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
* Holiday rotation required
* Occasional weekend requirement
* On-call coverage required on weekends once every two months
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* No floating required - position works on one campus only
* Perform routine and complex histologic procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry
* Perform quality control on completed slides
* Identify problems that may affect diagnosis and results
* Record observations from tests and document maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab
* Comply with established laboratory policies and procedures
* 5 years of full-time experience required
* Epic Beaker experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, HT(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
* Preferred: Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or other related scientific discipline, QIHC, and 5 years of experience with IHC and Special Stains
* Scrub color: Wine
* Charting system: Epic
* Parking cost applicable nights and weekends only - one-time payment of $20 for a parking pass

This facility is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center with 865 staffed beds.
