Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts available: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend (EOW) scheduling with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
* First to float when census is low
* L&D nurses required to float to postpartum and NICU (grower/feeder patients); postpartum nurses float to L&D to assist with tasks within scope
* L&D nurses must have postpartum experience; postpartum nurses do not necessarily require L&D experience
* C-section scrubbing experience not required, but must be able to circulate in 2 c-section suites with recovery
* 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided
* Unit includes 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds, 27 postpartum beds, and a 5-bed nursery
* Approximately 3 births per day (1,545 per year)
* High-risk deliveries, any gestational age, EMT drop-offs, substance abuse/withdrawal patients, and non-English speaking patients are common
* Follows AWOHNN staffing guidelines and ratios
* OB/Neonatologist available on call 24/7 with a 30-minute response time
* RT, pharmacy, and charge nurse/shift manager support available 24/7
* EMR system: Cerner; FHM system: FetalLink (integrated with Cerner)
* Scrub color: Navy
* Call shifts are optional but preferred - discuss willingness during interview
* Holiday scheduling coordinated with permanent staff (typically one major and one minor holiday)
* Hospital cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks
* Minimum 2-3 years of experience required; at least one prior travel contract preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN intermediate or advanced); STABLE preferred
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a dedicated Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit designed to support a high volume of deliveries, including high-risk cases. The unit is equipped with c-section suites, a postpartum wing, and a nursery, with comprehensive support services available around the clock including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and on-call OB/Neonatology services. The facility utilizes Cerner as its primary charting system and integrates FetalLink for fetal monitoring, reflecting a commitment to advanced technology and quality patient care.
