MedSurg RN

Job Details:

* Work 4x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend required
* On-call required on a PRN low census basis
* Patient ratios of 1:6-7; staffing plan supports 1:6 normal ratios with flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Float required between med/surg units to meet facility needs
* 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
* South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start
* Required certification: BLS
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, NIHSS
* Epic charting experience required
* Scrub color: Royal Blue
* Free parking available
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Common patient diagnoses include diabetes, renal disease, hypertension, CAD, stroke, chest pain, and altered mental status
* All patients eligible for telemetry monitoring managed by monitor techs in a central location
* Required skills include Med/Surg, Telemetry, Insulin administration, and Rapid Response team participation
* Additional skills include blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, and IV placement and management
* Telemedicine equipment used on unit; instruction will be provided
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
* Block scheduling may be requested prior to assignment but is not guaranteed
* Previous charge experience preferred

This facility is a 34-bed community hospital offering comprehensive medical-surgical care with a strong interdisciplinary support structure. The unit provides telemetry monitoring for all patients through a centralized monitoring team and is supported by services including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams. The facility utilizes Epic as its charting system and is committed to maintaining quality patient care through structured staffing plans and modern telemedicine technology.
