Job Details:
* Day shift hours: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM; Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Weekend rotation required: out of 8 weekend shifts per schedule, must work at least 4 (may be back-to-back)
* Holiday rotation required
* No on-call required; option to pick up call shifts available
* All time off requests require manager approval
* Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery required
* Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment at a facility comparable in size and acuity
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, MOAB
* Must be proficient in titrating Pitocin, fetal scalp electrodes, cervical exams, management of insulin drips and magnesium drips
* Must be able to assist CRNA with epidural placement and manage shoulder dystocia
* Must be able to circulate c-sections and/or receive baby in OR and perform neonatal resuscitation
* Must be able to assist with placement and monitoring of IUPC
* Newborn care responsibilities include ability to provide lactation support and safe skin-to-skin protocol
* Charge nurse experience should be noted in submission
* Patient ratios: Cervical Ripening 1:1-3; Laboring 1:1-3; Active Labor 1:1; Couplet/Postpartum/Antepartum: 3 mother/baby couplets or 3 Antepartum/NICU moms
* May float to Mother-Baby unit for Antepartum, Postpartum, or occasional Mother-Baby coverage
* EMR system: Cerner with Fetal Link
* IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Fetal Monitoring: Fetal Link
* Scrub color: Navy provided on site via scrub machine (6 credits allotted); worn at facility only, street clothes worn to and from shift
* Free parking available on site
* Orientation: 1 day with HR/preceptor, 1 day of OR training/PACU, 1 day with preceptor (on night shift if contracted to nights)
Facility:
This facility operates a Level III NICU and Newborn Nursery and serves as one of only two NICUs in the state, covering a large geographical area and receiving a high volume of referrals. The Labor & Delivery unit averages approximately 1,800 deliveries per year and typically performs 4 scheduled events daily including c-sections and versions. The unit includes 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites, and a PreOp/PACU within the labor area. Postpartum, Antepartum, GYN, and Mother-Baby services are housed in a separate but adjacent locked unit. The facility operates a rooming-in model for Mother-Baby care and maintains 24/7 support including anesthesia, OB providers, respiratory therapy, house supervisors, and charge nurses.
