Job Details:

* Minimum 3 years of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience required; 5 years highly preferred
* Must be able to work in a high-acuity, high-volume, fast-paced environment
* Float required between Postpartum and Antepartum units; may float to sister facilities for Mother/Baby coverage
* Work every other weekend and holidays as needed; must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
* Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
* Average daily census of 15 patients; 500?600 deliveries per month
* Unit consists of 31 rooms and 31 beds with 4 operating rooms
* HARD STOP REQUIREMENT: Must be able to circulate for C-sections
* HARD STOP REQUIREMENT: Must function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum
* HARD STOP REQUIREMENT: Must provide newborn care including eye drops, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments
* Proficiency with Epic electronic fetal monitoring required
* Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
* Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
* Administer medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
* Required skills include: amnioinfusion, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, APGAR scoring, cesarean section circulation, epidural anesthesia support, fetal heart rate monitoring, hemorrhage/shock management, high-risk antepartum care, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, neonatal resuscitation, newborn assessment, Pitocin administration, postpartum hemorrhage management, pregnancy-induced hypertension care, sterile vaginal exams, and triage of obstetrical patients
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, and geriatrics
* Patient ratio experience of 1:2 required

This is a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit operating within a large healthcare system that follows AWHONN staffing guidelines. The facility features 31 beds and 4 operating rooms, supporting a wide range of obstetric care including midwifery, private OB, and community care services. Interdisciplinary support services available include respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
